Liinguist ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read it carefully. By using the App, you consent to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following information:

Automatically collected:

• Device identifier (used to associate your sessions and progress)
• App usage data (sessions completed, streaks, session duration)
• Selected language and proficiency level

When you create an account:

• Email address and password (if registering with email)
• Name, email address, and profile picture (if you choose to sign in with Google — see Section 4)

During sessions:

• Conversation transcripts (text messages and speech-to-text output) used solely to generate personalised feedback

In-app purchases and subscriptions:

• Subscription status and purchase history (processed by RevenueCat — see Section 5)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Provide, operate, and maintain the App
• Generate personalised language feedback and progress scores
• Track streaks and session history
• Process and manage your subscription
• Send practice reminders (if you opt in to push notifications)
• Improve and develop new features
• Respond to your support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

• Google LLC (AI services) — we send conversation transcripts to Google Gemini to generate language feedback. Google is contractually restricted from using this data for any purpose beyond providing the AI service.
• RevenueCat, Inc. — processes subscription and purchase transactions on our behalf. RevenueCat receives your purchase tokens, product identifiers, and subscription status. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Other service providers who assist in operating our infrastructure, subject to confidentiality obligations.
• Law enforcement when required by applicable law or to protect our rights.

4. Sign In with Google

You may choose to create an account or sign in using Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0). When you do, Google shares the following information with us:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your Google profile picture

We use this information solely to create and authenticate your Liinguist account. We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond authentication and account management. We do not share your Google account data with any third party except as required to operate the authentication service itself.

Your Google account data is retained for as long as your Liinguist account is active. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us (see Section 14), after which your Google-sourced data will be removed within 30 days.

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Liinguist offers subscriptions managed through Apple App Store and Google Play. Purchase transactions are processed by the respective platform and by RevenueCat, Inc., our subscription management provider. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt, subscription status, and a platform-generated subscriber identifier to verify entitlements and manage your subscription.

We do not store your payment card details. All financial transactions are handled directly by Apple or Google under their respective privacy policies.

6. Advertising

The App may display advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and use your advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) and other signals to show you relevant ads.

On iOS, we will ask for your permission before allowing personalised advertising (via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework). You can change this at any time in your device Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can opt out in Settings → Google → Ads.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. We will action deletion requests within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Push Notifications

With your permission, we may send push notifications to remind you to practice. You can opt out at any time through your device settings or within the App under Settings → Notifications.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability

12. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
